What is it?

SMASHING THE PARLIAMENTARY ILLUSION!

Whether we like it or not, as long as people believe there are options and alternatives in society, they
will continue to avail themselves of these options. The single greatest hurdle facing anarchists in societies that are based on parliamentary rule are Parliamentary elections.

Although anarchists believe that parliamentary elections are nothing more than two minutes of illusory power, most people in Australia and other parliamentary based societies continue to participate in parliamentary elections.

Australia with a handful of other Nation States has made participation in parliamentary elections compulsory. At every election, over 90% of Australians participate by casting a formal ballot. The
launch of VOTE INFORMAL TODAY, DIRECT DEMOCRACY TOMORROW is an attempt to destroy the parliamentary process by using the parliamentary process. Over the next six to twelve months, we hope to expand the membership base of the group to over 600 people. We also aim to register the group as a political party.

The group is not limited to anarchists anybody who doesn't believe in the parliamentary farce is free
to join. Membership only costs a 45 cent stamp. Any member of the group can stand as a Federal parliamentary candidate on a Vote Informal ticket. Any member who stands is responsible for their
own election costs. Any member standing as a parliamentary candidate who does not encourage
people to vote informal, is automatically expelled from the group.

Over the next few years we hope to set up an organisation that will throw a direct challenge to the
illusion that power lies in parliament. We encourage all our supporters to seriously think about joining this group. We also ask them to think about standing as Federal candidates so together we can challenge the very essence of the parliamentary farce. This is one way anarchists can puncture the illusion that power lies in parliament and that people who live in Australia have options every time an election is called. *Check out the Constitution and, if you like it, print it out with the application form. Fill them both in, attach a 45c stamp, and post them in (Preferably with a stamped self-addressed envelope). An official membership card will be sent out immediately!
